Enery is proud to announce a new virtual Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for a solar PV plant in Romania, where it will not only guarantee a virtual PPA but also physically supply power directly to Nokian Tyres.
This deal represents Enery’s sixth PPA in Romania and the twelfth across the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region in the last two years, further reinforcing Enery’s position as the largest and most trusted PPA provider in CEE. Starting in 2025, this partnership will ensure Nokian Tyres receives zero CO2 energy from Enery’s solar project, located in southern Romania for a duration of 11 years. Nokian Tyres is building a new tire factory to Oradea, Romania. The facility is the first full-scale zero CO2 tire factory in the world. The commercial production is expected to start in early 2025.
Under this agreement, Enery will supply clean energy from newly constructed PV assets with a capacity of 50 MW. The project is designed to generate approximately 80 GWh of renewable energy annually, which is equivalent to supplying 47,226 homes with clean energy and saving 20,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
As a preferred partner for corporates seeking to meet sustainability goals while securing long-term energy supply, Enery’s extensive portfolio in CEE highlights its dedication to facilitating corporate access to renewable energy. This latest PPA with Nokian Tyres reflects Enery’s focus on aligning interests across the board, ensuring that the needs of the off-taker, the energy provider, and the local market are met harmoniously. The deal contributes to Romania’s renewable energy goals while supporting Nokian Tyres’ commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and securing zero CO2 energy resources.
