Enery, a leading independent power producer in Central and Eastern Europe, and Orange Slovensko, one of the largest telecommunications operators in Slovakia, have signed a 10-year physical Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Under the agreement, Enery will supply renewable electricity from a new solar power plant in Slovakia to power Orange Slovensko’s network operations.
Under the agreement, Enery will supply 125,030 MWh of renewable electricity over the next decade, providing Orange Slovensko with a long-term, reliable source of green energy while supporting its sustainability goals and contributing to the decarbonization of the Slovak energy system.
The electricity will be generated by a new 12.5 MWp photovoltaic power plant in Slovakia’s Banská Bystrica Region, scheduled to become operational in 2027. Once commissioned, the facility is expected to generate approximately 15 GWh of clean electricity annually – enough to supply around 4,520 households while avoiding approximately 1,125 tons of CO₂ emissions every year.

The current announcement comes along with the new campaign of Orange Slovensko called The Best Network Under the Sun where Orange highlights its commitment and usage of ESG solutions like solar energy and virtual power plant.

We started by introducing solar energy, which now powers 636 of our base stations. We then became one of the first operators in the world to adopt modern lithium batteries, which are now deployed at 500 of our sites, while also launching our own virtual power plant.
Now, we want to go even further, and we are pleased that we will have long-term access to renewable electricity from a new solar power plant in Slovakia. As both energy consumption and energy costs are key factors in operating our network, we see significant benefits in this solution. The agreement marks an important milestone for both companies. As Orange Slovakia’s first Corporate Power Purchase Agreement, it supports the development of new renewable energy capacity by ensuring that the electricity supplied comes from additional clean energy generation. At the same time, it represents Enery’s second Corporate Green PPA in Slovakia, further reinforcing the company’s growing track record of delivering long-term renewable electricity solutions for commercial and industrial customers across Central and Eastern Europe.
The announcement coincides with Orange’s new campaign, “The Best Network Under the Sun,” through which the company highlights its commitment to using sustainable energy sources.
