The Founders
Richard König & Lukas Nemec

These two energy experts run Enery. However, we asked them to answer the following questions separately

Richard König
CEO
Lukas Nemec
COO
What was the first thing you learned to appreciate about the other?
Richard:

His organisational skills, his discipline, and his reliability!

Lukas:

His perseverance! When Richard commits to something, he always goes through with it. I find that impressive.

How would you describe each other’s management style?
Richard:

Lukas leads the way, is very well organised, is particularly good at setting up processes, and pitches in everywhere himself.

Lukas:

Focused on the important things that move the company forward.

Which of you is responsible for what at Enery?
Richard:

I am very much responsible for the external side of the company, and Lukas is responsible for the internal side.

Lukas:

Richard for growing Enery – leading with a vision – and me for the operational framework.

Why photovoltaics?
Richard:

The answer can be found in our company philosophy: “We do the right things right!” We are convinced that PV is the right and best way of generating green electricity.

Lukas:

We worked together for a long time in a company that also had thermal energy in its portfolio, in this case, coal-fired power stations. But we saw that this no longer makes sense and is a thing of the past. At the same time, we have realised that photovoltaics have simply become highly competitive, even without subsidies. It is the cheapest and simplest form of energy production, and also the easiest to operate. That is why PV is the logical solution for achieving the energy transition, i.e. making energy production emission-free.

What drives you – apart from the sun?
Richard:

We don’t just want to make money with our company; we also want to pursue a purpose that serves to motivate us beyond being an entrepreneur. And that is simply to make the generation of electricity sustainable. And we want to achieve this without being reliant on subsidies in the long-term.

Lukas:

On one hand, I wanted to be autonomous and lead and fulfil my responsibility to create jobs. Secondly, I want to create jobs that have a sustainable goal. And thirdly, I want to have a company where you know that every hour you put in results in something good.

What are the first three characteristics that come to mind when you think of Enery?
Richard:

Young, dynamic, sustainable – all spiced with a pinch of fun.

Lukas:

Fast-growing, ambitious, sustainable.

What characteristic of the other person gets on your nerves?
Richard:

Lukas’ surname Nemec is Czech and means “The German”. This has many, many advantages but can also create difficulties in certain situations. He is reeeally precise (laughs).

Lukas:

That Richard often only focuses on the important and big things.
