By signing two virtual PPAs with Orange Romania Group, Enery has taken another important step in helping companies across Central and Eastern Europe decarbonize their operations.
As a leading developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy systems in Central and Eastern Europe, Enery is committed not only to supplying low-cost, reliable green electricity, but also to delivering broader social and economic benefits through its greenfield projects in selected CEE markets.
Through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) – tailored supply contracts for green electricity at fixed prices – Enery gives companies the economic planning certainty they need and therefore a real competitive advantage. The company has established itself as one of the fastest and most effective market participants in driving the CEE region’s transition to sustainable energy, and this latest deal once again underscores that pioneering role.
Orange Group aims to reach full climate neutrality by 2040.
Innovation in Eastern Europe
With the signing of two virtual power purchase agreements between Enery and Orange Romania Group, the telecom operator will now cover 70,000 MWh of its annual electricity demand with green energy. Orange Romania is the country’s largest GSM operator and one of its leading providers of broadband internet and mobile communications. The company is majority-owned by Orange S.A., France’s largest telecommunications group.
Contracts establish a cross-border PPA – still an innovation in Eastern Europe. The power plant that will supply green electricity to Orange Romania Group’s sites will be located in Bulgaria. It was still under construction at the time of the agreement. Orange Group aims to reach full climate neutrality by 2040, and the cooperation with Enery brings that target a substantial step closer.

Cross-Border Projects
Chief Commercial Officer Severin Vartigov describes the collaboration as a clear expression of Enery’s commitment to supporting companies on their decarbonization journey. The company’s mission, he says, is to pool strengths with partners in order to build a more sustainable energy landscape and inspire others to launch bold initiatives for a greener future.
Enery CEO Richard König had recently highlighted the importance of cross-border renewable projects at the Enery Energy Conference in Vienna. In his view, Europe has to think on a continental scale: there is very low-cost wind power in countries such as Sweden and Estonia, low-cost solar power in Portugal, Spain, and Italy, and what is needed now are large-scale renewable infrastructure projects and an infrastructure plan for industry.
What is clear is that Enery intends to continue playing a leading role in the decarbonization of Central and Eastern Europe while supporting companies in achieving both their individual climate targets and broader sustainability goals.
