Enery has reached another milestone: in Romania, the Ogrezeni project is set to become one of Europe’s largest hybrid renewable-energy plants.
Enery has announced the start of construction on one of Europe’s largest hybrid renewable energy projects. Located in Romania’s Giurgiu County, Ogrezeni combines solar PV with a battery energy storage system. Once completed, it will rank among the largest hybrid plants in Europe, with 761 MWp / 534 MW of installed capacity and more than 1 GWh of storage capacity. The project is expected to power approximately 684,000 households with clean electricity and avoid approximately 303,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions each year.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with commissioning planned for summer 2027. For Enery, Ogrezeni is a major milestone within its portfolio; for Romania, it is equally significant in terms of decarbonization and security of supply.
A Giant Step for the Energy Transition
Enery’s CEO Richard König and COO Lukas Nemec describe Ogrezeni as a giant step forward in the development of large-scale renewable-energy assets that create long-term value not only for business partners, but also for local communities and the Romanian energy system as a whole. In their view, the project reflects Enery’s strategy of combining development and execution expertise with strong local know-how. By working closely with local partners, contractors, and stakeholders, the company aims to ensure that the benefits of the energy transition are widely shared, from secure green power and newly created jobs to sstainable investment in surrounding communities.

Construction of the plant is backed by Enery’s partner, the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, a specialized commercial infrastructure fund that invests in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure across EU member states in Central and Eastern Europe. The project is also supported by a EUR 460 million project-finance facility signed on 24 December 2025 by a consortium of eight commercial lenders coordinated by UniCredit as Global Coordinator.
Remarkable Growth
Edward Randolph, a member of Enery’s Investment Board and representative of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, describes the groundbreaking as an important step for regional security of supply. Alexandra Bocse of the Romanian Investment and Development Bank emphasizes Romania’s central role within the fund and the importance of continuing successful investment in the country’s energy infrastructure. Gerhard Matzinger, CEO of Enery co-founder RP Global, likewise points to Enery’s remarkable growth over the past six years and says the company is proud to remain part of that success story through RPG Capital.
Strong Local Integration
With ENEVO Group acting as general contractor for both the PV plant and the grid connection, Enery has selected a Romania-based company with proven experience in large-scale renewable projects and high-voltage substations. The project is also expected to create substantial local value, including around 350 jobs during construction alone. Community involvement has been integrated from the outset, and a biodiversity-monitoring program will accompany both the construction and operating phases to ensure that the plant is developed and operated in line with the highest environmental and social standards.
Cristian Pîrvulescu, CEO of ENEVO Group, describes the mandate as a major milestone for his company and says Enery’s decision in favor of a Romanian contractor is a clear commitment to local participation. Liviu Gavrila, Enery’s Country Manager for Romania, likewise sees Ogrezeni as a flagship project for the country: not only because of its scale, but because Romanian engineering firms, contractors, and service providers will play a central role throughout the project’s lifecycle. In his view, the electricity generated here will help drive national decarbonization while also creating tax revenues and broader economic benefits for the surrounding municipalities.
